Study on Quench Detection Method Based on Current Redistribution Used by Hall Probe in HTS Cable

This study proposes a magnetic measurement method for detecting hot-spot quenching in cable-in-conduit conductor (CICC) made with second-generation(2G) high-temperature superconducting ( HTS ) material. The method utilizes the current redistribution effect and is effective for detecting hot spots in the HTS twisted cable. Numerical models are used to investigate the method's theoretical feasibility and the impact of operating current and Hall probe position on the detection signal.
