On Propagation of OAM Modes Carried by Partially Coherent Laguerre-Gaussian Beams in Weak Oceanic Turbulence with Wide Range Parameters

Orbital angular momentum (OAM) offers great opportunities for underwater wireless optical communications, where oceanic turbulence and evaluation of which stand as major obstacles. In this work we consider the propagation behavior of OAM modes carried by partially coherent Laguerre-Gaussian beam, under the oceanic turbulence of extremely wide range parameters. Specifically, we evaluate the mode detection probability of OAM under weak oceanic turbulence where the average temperature varing from 0 to 30 degrees of Celsius, the average salinity varing from 0 to 40 part per thousand. Our results offer analytical assessments for OAM-based underwater wireless optical communications for most realistic oceanic scenarios in the Earth.
