Water Environment Temperature and Acidity (pH) Monitoring System Based on Arduino UNO

Water is a fundamental element crucial for sustaining human life, with its quality significantly impacted by human activities. One detrimental consequence of human influence is the generation of waste that threatens aquatic ecosystems. To optimize the utilization of water resources, it becomes imperative to gain real-time insights into water conditions. Hence, developing a data acquisition system capable of continuously monitoring temperature and pH levels in water bodies, facilitated through a PC and wireless connectivity, is essential. This work proposes a monitoring system incorporating a DB 10S20 temperature sensor, an Analog pH meter, an Arduino Mega 2560 microcontroller, and a 433 MHz Telemetry Kit. The system is deployed on an Unmanned Surface Vehicle programmed to autonomously navigate to specific waypoints, conduct measurements at these locations, display the collected data, and store it using a data logger. This comprehensive system represents a robust solution for continuous water quality monitoring and holds potential applications in environmental research, resource management, and sustainable practices. This system operates effectively within a line-of-sight data transmission range of 50 m. Monitoring temperature and pH in the University of Lampung’s water catchment area revealed a 0.09 increase in pH for every 1°C temperature increment.
