Semi-Continuous Bath System Bioethanol Processing Application With PID Control, Using Omron Cp1h-Xa40dt1-D Plc Based On NB Designer With HMI (Human Machine Interface) Display

Bioethanol is a prospective substitute for gasoline. Its manufacture has several stages, namely fermentation, evaporation, and distillation processes. To maintain temperature stability in the process, reliable and accurate temperature control is required. One of them is the PID control (Proportional-Integral-Derivative Controller). The advantage of the PID controller is a simple system that is faster in making decisions. The trial and error method in the PID Tunner simulation can shorten research time to find a good and accurate system as a reference for testing research tools. The research tool is a semi-continuous batch system bioethanol reactor designed to use PID control with a time function (timer) on the OMRON CP1H-XA40DT1-D PLC with an HMI (Human Machine Interface) display. With reference to the results of the PID Tunner simulation on MATLAB Simulink which is applied to a bioethanol reactor, it can increase the level of bioethanol and shorten the initial production time for the process of making bioethanol. With Kp=1, Ki=1, and Kd=1 values, the initial production time was obtained at 57 minutes, with 84% bioethanol content, which was the best result in this study.
