Abstract:
Making signs with Braille system at the Technological University of Panama allows the inclusion of people with visual disabilities within the facilities. To achieve the printing of signs, it was necessary to determine the appropriate measurements of the signs, the material needed to print them, as well as the production time and the parameters that must be configured to optimize their printing. For this, the signs for some rooms of the Electrical Engineering Department at the Chiriqui Regional Center were taken as an example. These were designed with different sizes, types of fonts for the text, and were printed with different parameters until the desired size and quality were achieved. For laboratories, signs of a larger size than those of the classrooms were used so that their quality was preserved as desired. With the preliminary results, it was found that there is a linear relationship between the mass of each sign and its production time, so the time and amount of material needed to print the total number of signs required could be estimated.
