Photovoltaic Characterization based on Light Intensity Modulation Impedance Spectroscopy

This paper presents the impedance characteristic of photovoltaic (PV) panels. The PV (Acopower HY010-12M 10 Watt) impedance is evaluated by a light intensity modulation method and a frequency response analyzer (FRA). The light intensity measurement uses cool white LEDs to deliver power to the PV. The light intensity is controlled by the synchronous buck converter to control the sinusoidal current and perturb light intensity. The voltage and current responses of PV were measured, and the impedance was calculated. The equivalent circuit parameters of the photovoltaic panel were compared to the FRA. The full wide-range frequency was tested to show the characteristic of photovoltaics.
