The Topology Automatic Search Algorithm of the Isolated DC-DC Converters

Isolated DC-DC converters, such as forward converters, are widely used in various power conversion applications due to their simplicity and high reliability. However, with the increasingly diverse applications and the higher efficiency requirement, different new topologies are needed. To fast find the required topologies, this paper proposes a vertex prime degree-Based topology automatic search algorithm, which can automatically search out all available isolated DC-DC converter topologies with given components. Firstly, the method that a circuit is converted to a graph using graph theory (C-G method) is introduced, where, the transformer is defined by two vertex pairs at the first time. Secondly, the numbers and the types of components used to form the circuit are regarded as the input condition of the algorithm, such as the components of the transformer, switch, diode, and inductor. type isolated DC-DC converters are taken as examples, which means the circuits have one transformer, one switch, two diodes, and one inductor, besides, there are an input DC source and an output DC source in the circuits. For the T

type isolated DC-DC converters, the existing forward converter can be searched out, what’s more, 7 new-type isolated DC-DC converter topologies are found in 6 minutes and 37 seconds, including 3 new-type forward converters and 4 new-type flyback converters. Therefore, the proposed algorithm provides an effective way to automatically and fast generate the available converter topologies with transformer by computer.
