On the interest of cosimulation for active antenna arrays of finite size

Active phased arrays offer a great versatility of tuning in terms of beamsteering accuracy, side lobe level constraints or Effective Isotropic Radiated Power (EIRP) management. However, they remain complex architectures due to the presence of distributed amplifiers. These can suffer from the well-known load-pull effects while the active impedances of the array are changed. Here, a cosimulation workflow is proposed using a combination of bilateral non-linear models for the amplifiers (PAs) and analytical active reflection coefficient prediction for the finite array size.
