A Compact Enhanced Bandwidth Slotted Millimeter Wave Microstrip Patch Antenna for 5G Wireless Application

This work presents the performance of the compact slotted millimeter wave microstrip antenna with enhanced bandwidth. The proposed slotted millimeter wave antenna exhibits a small size of 4.5 x 5.75 x 1.67 mm

and is aimed at covering the 5G wireless high band spectrum frequencies of 26 GHz and 28 GHz. This research applies four development steps to achieve the optimal size of the antenna. The obtained simulated results of proposed antenna reveal an impedance bandwidth of 10.8 GHz, spanning 24.1 GHz to 34.9 GHz. The VSWR values at a frequency of 26 GHz and 28 GHz are 1.08 and 1.55, respectively. At 26 GHz and 28 GHz, respectively, it reaches a maximum gain of 5.91 dBi and 6.12 dBi. The proposed antenna possesses desirable performance characteristics to serve the 5G wireless high-band spectrum frequencies.
