Errors in Setting the Angular Position in Matrix Simulators due to the Nonlinearity of the Direction Finding Characteristics of the Antenna

The errors of setting the angular position of the apparent center of radiation that occur in matrix simulators of signals and interference are considered. They are caused by the nonlinearity of the direction finding characteristics of the antenna of the radio-electronic system that is being investigated. It is shown that these errors are determined by the fourth degree term in the polynomial, which is used to approximate the radiation pattern of the receiving antenna. In fact, this term determines the nonlinearity of the direction finding characteristics of the antenna of the radio engineering system, which is studied using a matrix simulator. Relations are obtained that establish the relationship of the error magnitude with the diversity of the matrix emitters and the coefficients of the polynomial approximating the antenna pattern. The largest error values are also determined depending on the combination of these parameters. The results obtained can be applied in the design of matrix simulators of signals and interference, and the results can also be used to predict the accuracy characteristics of matrix simulators.
