The Simulation Model of the MIMO Radar Antenna Array

This paper is devoted to the development and approbation of the simulation model of the two-dimensional MIMO radar antenna array with the set configuration for radar applications. The algorithm for the replacing a MIMO antenna array with the simulation model considering all the main stages of MIMO processing of the applied signals is developed. Stages include performing of radiation by a transmitting antenna array, the receiving of radiation by a receiving antenna array, orthogonal signals filtering in receiving channels, calculation and setting the phase shifts on array elements. The developed algorithm allows simulating MIMO antenna arrays with unrestricted configurations of their elements and various types of complex envelopes of applied signals: short pulse on the video frequency and signals with linear frequency modulation. The developed simulation model is validated by successful comparison of the radiation patterns performed by simulated MIMO and the classical antenna arrays providing equivalent required directional characteristics. The results of reported study can be used for developing the MIMO radar antenna arrays of various configurations.
