Method for Identifying the Source of Higher Harmonics in the Power System

The quality of electricity is one of them most important and urgent problems of modern electric networks, the effective solution of which significantly reduces operating costs. Currently, the deterioration of the quality of electricity in power supply systems is due to the technological process of production, transmission, distribution and consumption of electricity, that is, the process of its operation. However, the source of higher harmonics can also be an energy system. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the location of the source of deterioration in the quality of electricity. For this purpose, a simulation model was developed in the MATLAB Simulink package to identify the source of higher harmonics of the current, since this parameter better reflects the deterioration of the quality of the network voltage. Analysis the shape of the dependence of the system current at the highest harmonic on the active resistance of the filter allows us to determine the location of the source of nonlinear distortion. A study of the quality parameters of power supply was conducted, which resulted in recommendations for improving the GOST 32144-2013 standard.
