Magnetic Field and Force Calculation of Transverse Flux Linear Synchronous Motor With Improved Analysis Model

Transverse flux linear synchronous motors (TFLSMs) have received great attention and study due to their high thrust density, flexible design, and diverse topology, as well as the features of integration with thrust, suspension, and guidance. The slotting of the motor iron core will affect the continuous magnetic field distribution. Moreover, accurately solving the magnetic field at the slot can effectively express the magnetic field and force characteristics. Therefore, an improved analysis model of the permeability coefficient is proposed, and the permeability distribution of the stator and rotor are calculated separately. By introducing a modification coefficient, the magnetic field is studied and a comparison is carried out with the finite element method (FEM) result. Then, the propulsion force is analyzed and validated by the FEM result considering the armature magnetic field. Finally, the prototype and experiment are conducted and the correctness of the proposed model is verified. The calculation results help to grasp the relationship between motor structure and electromagnetic performance.
