Mosquito Coil Smoke Monitoring System Using Arduino and MQ-2 sensor

Indoor pollution is a major cause of worry in homes and other enclosed environments. It is possible that prolonged exposure to the residues of heavy metals and particulate matter released into the air by burning cigarettes and mosquito coils in enclosed areas will impair human health. This study is carried out using an arduino-uno microcontroller and MQ-2 gas sensor to address the demand. MQ-2 was chosen because it has a low price and good durability. In this work, an Arduino-uno based monitoring system for detecting the smoke of the mosquito coil had been developed. The major hardware components of the system are MQ-2 sensor, jumper wires, buzzer, breadboard, power supply and Arduino Uno microcontroller unit. Experiments have been performed at two different locations to measure the smoke of the coil by the proposed system. An alarm is set as soon as the sensor readings are stabilized after crossing the initial threshold. This system can be used to monitor the air quality of the room.
