Investigation of Extremely Low Frequency Electric and Magnetic Field of 220kV Transmission Lines in Oman

This research focuses on longitudinal and lateral profiles of Extremely low-frequency Electromagnetic field investigations taken at three separate sites in Oman. The planned investigation of electric and magnetic fields emitted by transmission lines was probed using an EHP-50F E&H field analyzer sensor set and an environmental meter. The measurements were taken at a height of 1 meter above the ground and a lateral distance of up to 50 m from each of the double circuit transmission lines as per IEEE Std. 644-1994. For the first time in Oman, this intended research also delves into many other factors that are investigated and addressed in relation to the Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC)-technical standards that are based on best practice, including the spacing between phases, the spacing between conductors within a bundle of twin conductors, the design of phases on a tower, the cross-section of conductors, and so on. This proposed investigation will contribute to the Sultanate of Oman's 2030 goal of constructing a world-class smart transmission grid for the safe, dependable, secure, and economically advantageous transfer and dispatch of power.
