Harmonising Digital Identity Documents

The European Union has set high targets for the number of users it expects to be using digital identities by the end of the decade. According to the Digital Compass plan, Member States are expected to ensure that the majority of citizens will be using digital identities by 2030. The main objective of this research is the attributes mapping of the Digital Identity Documents across the European Union (EU), especially of the EU Digital Identity (EUDI) Wallet. Our aim is also to propose an extension of the EU Digital Identity Wallet in order to support the attributes in terms of the legal entities. The research findings enable the assessment of the degree that the Digital Identity Documents could be aligned with the ISA2 Core Vocabularies and the OpenID Connect protocol. The paper also outlines the key conclusions and proposals of this study.
