A Novel Consequent Pole Flux Reversal PM Machine with V-shape Magnets

The magnets of traditional flux reversal machine (FRM) are mounted on stator tooth surface. To improve torque density, consequent pole flux reversal machine (CP-FRM) with ferromagnetic iron poles instead of half PMs was proposed. In order to further enhance torque performance, a novel consequent pole FRM machine (V-CPFRM) with V-shape magnets inserted into the stator tooth bottom is proposed in this article. Compared with traditional CP-FRM, the proposed V-CPFRM has higher output torque because of the flux leakage reduction. Finally, the V-CPFRM prototype and the further test results will be presented in future publications.
