A Detection Method for Interturn Short-circuit Fault of Five-phase Surface Mounted PMSM

In this paper, the inductance parameters of five-phase PMSM without electromagnetic coupling between windings is discussed before and after the interturn short-circuit fault occurs. The mathematical model of the motor when the interturn short-circuit fault occurs is established. An online detection method for interturn short-circuit fault is proposed, which takes the product of short circuit turns ratio and short circuit current as the fault indicator. The fault indicator can be obtained by using differential voltage balance equation of stator windings. Various factors that may affect the fault indicator quantity are simulated and analyzed. Simulation results show that the proposed method is feasible.
