Position Sensorless Control of Deep-sea Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor with Umbilical Cable for Long-distance Power Transmission

In order to obtain the rotor position of deep-sea permanent magnet synchronous motor (DSPMSM) by model-based sensorless methods, the mathematical model of DSPMSM drive system with parasitic parameters due to long-distance power transmission by umbilical cable is established. Afterwards, the extended Kalman filter (EKF) is employed for the design of sensorless controller via. the proposed DSPMSM drive system model. The effectiveness of proposed sensorless solution is experimentally verified on a prototype DSPMSM drive system with imitated parasitic inductors and capacitors.
