Modeling and discharge characteristics analysis of eight-phase AC exciter air-core pulsed alternator

Compared with DC excitation, AC excitation can not only adjust the amplitude of the excitation current, but also adjust the frequency of the current. In this paper, AC excitation technology is used to improve the performance of pulsed alternator driving electromagnetic track load. Therefore, a finite element model of AC excitation pulsed alternator which has a three-phase excitation winding on the rotor is established and its magnetic density distribution characteristics are analyzed. On this basis, the paper deduces its mathematical model in natural coordinate system, and establishes the simulation model of AC excitation pulsed alternator discharge system. Through the time domain simulation, the dynamic response process of motor speed and torque are visually demonstrated. These results provide a reference for the application of AC excitation technology in pulsed alternators to improve the output performance of driving electromagnetic track load.
