Parameter Identification Scheme Based on Harmonic Coupling Model for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor

The control performance of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is strongly associated with the accuracy of the motor model and motor parameters. The harmonic coupling model is a high-precision PMSM model, which takes magnetic saturation into consideration. The motor parameters in harmonic coupling model are generally obtained by finite element method (FEM). However, there are errors in the motor parameters obtained by FEM. For this reason, this paper presents a PMSM parameter identification scheme based on the harmonic coupling model. According to the voltage-current harmonic coupling equation, the extended Kalman filter (EKF) is used to identify the fundamental components of the flux linkage, the low-order harmonic components of the inductance and the resistance in the harmonic coupling model. The errors of these parameters have an important influence on the control performance of PMSM. To assess the feasibility of the multi-parameter identification, the condition number is used to evaluate the ill-conditioned nature of the parameter identification equation. The simulation results show that the presented parameter identification scheme can identify the resistance, magnetic flux, and inductance parameters of the PMSM satisfactorily.
