Adaptive Control of Solid-Core Active Magnetic Bearing Based on System Identification Model

The solid-core axial magnetic bearing has simple processing and high strength and is preferred in Magnetically Suspended High-Speed Motor. However, when a time-varying current is applied to the control coil, the solid magnetic bearing will generate an alternating magnetic field causing eddy current effects to incur the amplitude of the bearing capacity decreased and phase lagged, bringing modeling difficulties. In this paper, the model of magnetic bearing through system identification is carried out, and adaptive backstepping control (ABSC) is proposed to solve the problems of force amplitude change and phase hysteresis. Simulation proves the proposed algorithm has more stability and robustness than the PID controller.
