Portmanteau Word Detection Based on LD Algorithm

The advancement of Internet technology has promoted the development of network language, and the vocabulary in the traditional English dictionary can no longer be sufficient for on-trend expressions. People need new words to describe more precisely. The portmanteau word, or the lexical blend, is a common way to create new words from existing ones. This research develops an algorithm to identify whether an English word is a lexical blend and successfully applies it to real-world datasets.
