A New Multicomponent Composite Resonant Probe With High-Detection Sensitivity

A new multicomponent magnetic probe with resonant characteristics was developed and characterized in this letter. The magnetic probe consists of a composite detection loop, a pair of shorted stubs, a pair of LC resonant circuits, and two signal lines. The LC resonant circuit is composed of a spiral stripline as an inductor and a rectangular plate as a capacitor. The composite detection loop includes a hybrid-ring detection structure and two shorted vias. Moreover, to suppress the unwanted electromagnetic mode, some via fences were etched into the magnetic probe. The LC resonant circuit was applied to improve the detection sensitivity at 1.575 GHz, while the composite detection loop was applied to sense two orthogonal magnetic-field components at the same time. Finally, the multicomponent composite resonant probe was printed, simulated, and tested to prove the effectiveness of the design. Test results indicate that the multicomponent composite resonant probe has a higher detection sensitivity, and can achieve simultaneous measurement of two orthogonal magnetic field components at 1.575 GHz.
