Analysis and Design of a Single-Stage Single-Phase Nonisolated Boost Inverter

A single-stage single-phase inverter that fits low-voltage input applications is proposed in this letter. It integrates a dual output dc–dc boost converter followed by two additional power switches. The proposed inverter realizes a zero leakage current by sharing a common ground with the input and the ac output. Furthermore, the proposed inverter can achieve boosting voltage capacity based on fewer switching devices, hence it decreases the system cost. The other advantage of the proposed topology is that it inherently contains both the symmetrical positive voltage and negative voltage gain, so a simple sinusoidal pulsewidth modulation technique can be adopted for realizing the ac sinusoidal output voltage. The working principle, steady-state performance, and parameter design details of the proposed inverter are elaborated. The simulation and experimental results verify the effectiveness of the proposed inverter.
