The role of Public-Private Partnership to foster Twin Transition in Made in Italy: an application case

The industrial sector in Italy is still having trouble making the shift to a sustainable and digital economy. At the European Union and national levels, a number of programs have been established to promote manufacturers and increase their competitiveness in the global market (such as the Made in Italy brand). Private-Public Partnerships stand out among them as an effective example of bridging the gap between research and business and assisting in the development of Twin Transition in the industrial sector. In order to create an integrated roadmap for Twin Transition, the research offered a methodology that was applied to 14 Italian manufacturing companies (including Small-Medium Enterprises, and Large Companies). The process is broken down into six parts, starting with gathering company goals and ending with implementing the chosen actions for improvement. The analysis showed that the Private-Public Partnerships chosen for the study turned out to be crucial for the roadmapping process' efficacy and they increased in significance as it approached the most last phases. The research investigates the efficacy of Private-Public Partnerships or other efforts in speeding the pursuit of such a difficult goal and proposes a technique to direct manufacturing enterprises toward Twin Transition as one of its primary contributions to theory and practice.
