Innovative Approach for Sustainable Electricity Generation

Nowadays the availability of the primary source of energy (i.e., Fossil fuel) is being reduced day by day hence the necessity to find a new source of energy is going up. This paper explores the possibilities of converting mechanical force and sound (acoustic) energy into usable electrical energy. This method of conversion can be used on highways or bridges where vehicles are constantly moving. Electricity can be generated from the force due to the weight the vehicles exert while moving and the sound from the vehicles and noises they make from horns. These noises they produce are one of the major reasons of noise pollution in the populated areas. This can be converted into electrical energy which will be used to charge the batteries during the daytime and during the night time it can be used to glow the street lights and even used to charge electrical vehicles. This can reduce transmission losses as the electricity used to glow the street lights. LDR sensor can be used to perform the automatic switching of the street lights during night-time. A battery charged by the energy produced by the model proposed in this paper can be connected to a microcontroller (Arduino UNO) which can be connected to the street lights and LDR sensor, which will perform the switching function automatically. This model will work with higher efficiency in a tunnel- type road system where the sound produced by the vehicles will be more concentrated and space for the vehicles to move will be less. The proposed new model combines a piezo-transducers and microphone in parallel to increase the current produced. This new system with an LDR sensor makes it a real-life high energy efficient model.
