Attitude Stabilization of a Flexible Satellite with Sloshing Phenomenon

This paper presents a robust control approach aimed at achieving attitude stabilization of a flexible satellite while effectively mitigating propellant slosh torques. The proposed approach combines a disturbance observer (DO) with a proportional-derivative (PD) controller. Initially, the DO is employed to estimate the lumped disturbances present in the system. Subsequently, a PD controller is designed to stabilize the satellite and attenuate residual disturbances. Through simulation experiments conducted on a flexible satellite model, the efficacy of the proposed approach in achieving asymptotic stability is empirically validated. Thus, the proposed approach is demonstrated to be effective for the stated purpose.
