Bioelectricity Generation with Microbial Fuel Cells in Constructed Wetlands for Wastewater Treatment

This research analyzes and examines the effects of bioelectricity generation using the integration of two technologies, the first is Microbial Fuel Cells (MFC) and the second is Constructed Wetlands (CW), both technologies are considered emerging and are highly compatible as they contain microorganisms for their processes, with the first one electricity is obtained and simultaneously with the second one wastewater is treated, so it is considered a source of green energy with a wide potential to be sustainable and affordable, The resulting MFC-CW hybridization required electrodes, electrogenic microorganisms among others, hydrophytic plants in this case Canna hybrids and Heliconia bihay, the filtering material was volcanic rock known as red Tezontle and the substrate was domestic wastewater, the research presents results based on the performance of the electrodes with respect to the power density in mW/m
