A Study on Space Charge and Electrical Conduction Current Properties According to Thermal Stress Period of Insulation Materials for HVDC Eco-Friendly Power Cables

Recently, HVDC(High Voltage Direct Current) transmission has been increasing. In addition, interest in eco-friendly insulating materials is increasing, and interest in PP-based insulating materials, which are thermoplastic insulators, is also steadily increasing. In this study, space charge and conduction current characteristics were evaluated to study the effect of thermal stress on PP-based insulating material, which is of high interest as an eco-friendly insulating material. The space charge was measured by manufacturing a measurement system using the PEA(Pulsed Electro-Acoustic) method. The conduction current was measured with a measurement system manufactured using the method proposed in ASTM(American Society for Testing and Materials)-D257, and the conduction mechanism was analyzed through these data. The results of the effect of thermal stress for insulating material were obtained by comparing and analyzing the measured space charge properties and electrical conduction properties.
