Software Simulation of a MEMS Accelerometer for Cargo Unmanned Aerial Vehicle

The article explores a technique for improving the efficiency of cargo control by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) by creating an automatic load stabilizer in free fall. An assessment is given of a study on improving the efficiency of cargo UAV control by 3D simulation of cargo drop and fall. The steps of measuring the UAV cargo deviation from a fixed point using an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) built using micro electromechanical systems (MEMS) are investigated. To check the adequacy of the proposed models, an algorithmic software tool was developed to simulate the accuracy of cargo drop from UAV. As a result of the experiments, the optimal coefficients for the Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controllers were determined, the error of the inertial measurement system was determined, equal to 0.95% with a displacement of 30 cm. The conclusions will be useful to developers of cargo UAVs.
