Study of Data Traffic in UAV Communications

Reliable data exchange between remote Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and the base station is a major challenge for drone communication systems. It is necessary to create ways to analyze drone communication channels in extreme conditions. This paper reports for the first time a new approach to data transmission between drone and ground station using the Wide Area Network (WAN) and stations of the Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). To simulate a drone communication channel with minimal data loss and bit errors, a simple UAV wireless communication channel was created and data on possible packet losses was obtained. By setting the data transmission parameters in the channel, one can find the average channel load, transaction losses and the number of errors.
