Design and Construction of a Prototype Radar Using Raspberry Pico and MicroPython

The main objective of this work is to implement radars using Raspberry Pi Pico and the programming languages MicroPython and Python. It seeks to develop an effective and economical radar system that can scan terrain and detect buried objects, whether metallic or non-metallic. For this purpose, a 3D printed structure was designed using PLA to customize the prototype according to the needs of the sensors. In addition, the necessary circuitry was designed and fabricated using printed circuit boards milled on a CNC machine to ensure high precision and quality. MicroPython was used as the base language to program and configure the Raspberry Pi Pico, controlling the different modules and sensors of the radar. On the other hand, Python was used to process the data obtained by the radar, applying filtering algorithms, analysis and visualization of the captured information. As for data analysis, methods such as signal analysis were used to identify patterns and characteristics in the waves reflected by buried objects. An energy and power analysis of the signal was also performed to evaluate the intensity of the detected signals and determine the presence of objects.
