A Wireless Node Location Method Combining Least Absolute Deviation and Least Square Method*

Wireless node loaction using the least square method (LSM) may lead to errors in the case of unstable signals of wireless access points. In this paper, a wireless node location algorithm combining least absolute deviation (LAD) and LSM is proposed. Firstly, the algorithm converts the collected received signal strength indicator (RSSI) between the unlocated nodes and the wireless access points into distance through the path loss model. Then the LAD algorithm is analyzed and transformed it into a linear programming problem. Finally, We convert all wireless access points into a set, LAD set and LSM set methods are combined to obtain the estimated location of the unlocated node. The experimental results show that the proposed method is better than the LAD and LSM in terms of location accuracy with or without singular points.
