Container Drayage Operation under Truck Platooning Mode Considering Fatigue Driving

Local container drayage transportation is a significant part of the universal trading system. This paper studies a local container drayage problem under a semi-autonomous platooning mode considering fatigue driving. Multiple trucks form a truck platoon in this mode, and the driving time of each driver is limited based on fatigue driving and some other actual conditions. The problem of routing drivers and trucks is mathematically modeled according to the characteristics of platooning and the total working time of each driver. The initial model is nonlinearized, and then it is linearized. The aforementioned methodology is verified by experiments based on randomly generated instances, and several key parameters are analyzed. Experimental results display that this mode can reduce the total transportation time and total cost to some extent.
