This work embarks on a journey through the world of Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology, exploring its diverse applications and advancements that are reshaping the IoT landscape. Discovering how UWB's unique characteristics make it one of the most promising technologies for IoT applications, providing centimeter-accuracy for localization and positioning. We'll zoom on the novel concept of Angle of Arrival (AoA) measurements that are empowering novel devices with accurate and low-power localization. Transitioning into the realm of energy efficiency, we will explore novel UWB Wake-Up Radios benefit energy and latency versus conventional duty cycling approaches. Finally, we'll assemble the pieces of the puzzle to unveil a self-sustaining IoT system. Integrating UWB with energy-efficient wake-up radio and embedded processing creates an unobtrusive and accurate indoor location system. By adopting an event-driven sensing approach and a tag-centralized concept, we strike the perfect balance between limited energy harvesting and power consumption.
