Self-Correction CPS-Based Torque Sideband Harmonic Suppression of Triple Redundant In-Wheel PMSMs

In recent years, triple three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor drive systems have received increasing attention in applications with high-power and high-reliability requirements, especially for in-wheel motor applications. Power converter high-frequency pulsewidth modulation (PWM) control is the primary source of high-frequency torque pulsation, which is far beyond the control bandwidth compared to other frequency torque pulsations generated by motor body design and inverter nonlinearity and is difficult to suppress by current loop design. To address this problem, a PWM carrier phase shift (CPS) method based on a self-correction algorithm is proposed in this article. Compared with the conventional method, the proposed method improves the suppression of torque sideband harmonics in the case of unbalanced power distribution in a triple three-phase motor system. In particular, a full-range torque sideband harmonics model of the triple three-phase motor with an arbitrary phase difference is developed. The mechanism of torque sideband harmonic suppression under different combinations of phase shift angles is analyzed. Then, based on the set optimization objective, a self-correction search algorithm is designed to find the optimal CPS angle combinations. Finally, the experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
