Throughput Maximization: Joint Trajectory Planning, Power and Time Allocation in UAV Network

This paper studies a communication optimization problem for energy-constrained unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-assisted relay network. Specifically, a UAV is deployed in the system to provide relay communication services for multiple Source nodes (SNs) and Destination nodes (DNs) pairs. Due to the limited energy of the system, joint optimization of task scheduling, UAV trajectory and signal transmission power is considered to maximize the minimum data throughput. Furthermore, the proposed model is formulated and analyzed to obtain a non-convex integer programming problem. To solve this problem, firstly, the original problem is decoupled into three sub-problems. Then the solutions of the three sub-problems are obtained based on the slack variable method and successive convex approximation (SCA) technique. Finally, this paper proposes a joint optimization iterative algorithm, using the block coordinate descent (BCD) method. Numerical simulations demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms two baseline schemes and is capable of achieving a higher data throughput.
