Reducing the Impact of Measurement Uncertainty in Conformity Assessment

The article analyzes the influence of the uncertainty of the measurement results on the correctness of decision-making about the conformity of objects with the given norms. To reduce the probability of making incorrect decisions a protective band traditionally is used. This leads to additional losses, first of all to the manufacturer, and thus to an increase in the cost of products. The consumer also bears indirect losses. Acceptance limits are set to avoid these losses without reducing the quality of products. The limits are symmetrically located in relation to the limit values of the tolerance interval. The conformity assessment is carried out using sequential analysis. At the same time, the additional number of measuring operations does not increase significantly. One of the characteristic features of small enterprises is a wide range of products, the assortment of which can be changed several times a day. At the same time, the components remain unchanged but the conformity interval is changed. With the measuring equipment remaining unchanged, it won't be possible to ensure standardized quality for all products since the quality depends on the measuring capabilities indicator. The introduction of adaptive acceptance limits leads to a decrease in the width of the protective band at each successive step and extends the acceptance interval and reduces the conformity assessment risks.
