Analysis of the Advantages and Disadvantages of Multi-Modal Teaching - a Programming Course as an Example

This paper focuses on the advantages and disadvantages of multi-modal teaching in programming classes. The study uses performance analysis to analyse student performance in different teaching modes. The results of the study show that students perform better in terms of course knowledge, practical application and innovation when taught in multiple modes. The findings suggest that multi-modal teaching can increase students’ motivation and interest in learning, and enhance their engagement and motivation in the course.However, multi-modal teaching also has some disadvantages, such as the need for more teaching resources and input, the more complex teaching process and the difficulty in standardising the quality of teaching. Therefore, when applying multi-modal teaching, a variety of factors need to be taken into account, such as the learning level and needs of students, teaching resources and time constraints. In addition, when adopting multi-modal teaching, attention also needs to be paid to the uniformity and quality control of teaching and learning to ensure the stability and improvement of teaching effectiveness.
