Synthesis of Water-Stable Tb-BTC/MoS2-Based Nanocomposite for Highly Sensitive Electrochemical Detection of Anthrax Biomarker Dipicolinic Acid (DPA)

Being highly infectious to human beings and animals, Dipicolinic acid (DPA), a special biomarker of bacillus anthracis, needs to be monitored qualitatively. Herein, we designed a novel electrode-modified material based on molybdenum disulfide (MoS
2
) nanoparticles and water-stable terbium-metal organic framework (MoS
2
-Tb-BTC) nanocomposite for the detection of DP A. The nanocomposite has been characterized by Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and the purity was further confirmed by powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) analysis. The obtained MoS
2
-based nanocomposite exhibits excellent electrocatalytic ability which could be utilized to construct an electrochemical detection platform to detect DPA. The electrochemical studies investigated by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) reveal that the synthesized nanocomposite can detect DPA with high selectivity and sensitivity under the optimum experimental conditions. As a result, the present work exhibits good electrocatalytic performance for DPA detection highlighting its potential applications in disease prevention and environmental analysis.
