Nanosecond pulse discharge based ozone generation with 10 parallel reactors

In recent years, ozone generation has become increasingly needed in environmental fields such as wastewater treatment and reduction of organic pollutants, and there are several methods of ozone generation, including photochemical reaction, electrolysis, and discharge methods. Currently, the discharge method is the mainstream, and the nanosecond pulse discharge is reported to have higher energy efficiency because it mainly consists of streamer discharge phase. In this study, the parallel-connected coaxial cylindrical reactors are used as the discharge electrode and the feeding gas flow rate from 4 to 10 L/min was tested to find the optimum number of reactors. The experimental results showed that the ozone concentration and yield were increased by increasing the number of reactors. However, they were saturated at 5 reactors. This is because electrical charge density decrease.
