Commissioning and Operation of the New PSB KSW Painting Bumpers

In the framework of the LHC Injectors Upgrade project the Proton Synchrotron Booster (PSB) injection region has been substantially modified to allow for 160 MeV $\mathrm{H}^{-}$ injection into the 4 superposed PSB rings. The KSW kickers are a substantial part of this upgrade allowing to paint the circulating beam on the stripping foil. For this crucial process, complex waveform specifications have been issued and had to be implemented in the pulse generator hardware. The paper describes the principle and performance of the 4 series connected IGBT and capacitor switching stages. Special capacitor chargers with floating outputs were developed and their main characteristics are described. The waveform linearity correction with analog feedback loop and a 500A linear power amplifier is explained and it is shown that the 1% precision goal is achieved. A summary of commissioning and two years of experience in operation is presented. This also includes the perspective of the PSB operators. Some EMC issues in the first year of operation are discussed and mitigation measures briefly described.
