Radiating surface plasmon nano-optics

Summary form only given. We have shown that nonilluminated metal surfaces away from the periodically arranged holes shine into the far-field. We identified the radiating SP mode, which is essentially the half wavelength standing wave as an extremely efficient mode of transmission. The dominance of this mode is a direct consequence of the constructive interference of multiply Bragg scattered surface plasmons and explains much of the previously debated puzzles.
