Establishing communication between EV – EVSE – CSMS based on IEC61851-1 and OCPP 2.0.1 Standard

This paper focuses on making transportation more sustainable by promoting the growth of electric vehicles and improving EV charging infrastructure. The communication protocol between EV and EV Supply Equipment is essential for safe, fast, and affordable charging. The paper presents a system architecture that utilizes the IEC 61851-1 and Open Charge Point Protocol to enable real-time communication between EVSE, EV, and the Charging Station Management System. The EVSE system includes pilot lines for monitoring various charging states and a microcontroller capable of generating pulse width modulation signals sent to EV side resistors to communicate various states. Utilizing the OCPP protocol which establishes a TCP/IP-based connection between the EVSE in the charging station and CSMS in the server. In this paper, CSMS is developed along with which an OCPP visualizer is introduced for examining and monitoring the OCPP messages in detail
