Evidence for slow Biot wave tomography

Biot wave theory predicts a slow compressional wave in porous media. This has been observed in bone independently. We have previously observed quantitative accuracy of 3D ultrasound volography/tomography for muscle, tendon, ligament, cartilage, fat, and skin but bone appears slower than literature values. We observe the correspondence of our SOS interior to trabecular bone with marrow and the slow Biot wave. This combined with independent results indicates the Biot slow wave may be present in and influencing 3D ultrasound tomography/volography in orthopedic applications.
