Application of Topological Energy for Flow Velocity Field Characterization

The present study investigates the use of the Topological Energy method as the imaging technique for Echo-PIV measurements. This method only needs a single wave emission to recreate an accurate image of reflectors (in this study, microbubbles), highly improving the frame rate of classical B-mode imaging techniques. The flow investigated is deviated by prism-shaped obstacles, allowing the measurement of a complex flow. The velocity profiles obtained by topological Echo-PIV were very concordant with both optical PIV and CFD RANS reference velocity fields.
