The Development of Teamwork as Soft Skill with Cooperative Learning in Song Translation for Enhancing the 21st Century

Teamwork played an important role for soft skill. It enhanced the effective work in the 21
^st
century. The purposes of this research were 1) to examine the development of university students toward teamwork as soft skill with cooperative learning; 2) to compare the students' song translation ability before and after using cooperative learning; and 3) to investigate the strategies of song translation from Thai into English. The sample was 22 second-year students in English teaching program, faculty of education, Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Rajabhat University, selected by purposive sampling. The research instruments were 1) Teamwork Skills Questionnaire (TSQ), 2) pre-test and post-test, 3) a questionnaire measuring satisfaction on cooperative teamwork, and 4) in-depth interview. The quantitative data was analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and dependent t-test. The qualitative data was analyzed by using of content analysis. The findings were 1) For the teamwork's ability, the students had more adaptability, coordination, decision - making, leadership, interpersonal, and communication. The students' satisfaction toward cooperative teamwork was at a high level with the average of 3.48; 2) The average scores of post-achievement test was higher than the before one. It was significant at the .05 level. The majority provided positive responses both questionnaire and interview; and 3) There were main 3 strategies of song translation: translation, adaption, and replacement, respectively.
