A Hybrid Born Iterative Method for Diagnosis of Planar Arrays With Amplitude-Only Far-Field Measurements

The diagnosis of antenna arrays typically necessitates comprehensive far-field measurements, which include both magnitude and phase. However, in numerous scenarios, phase measurements prove to be impractical due to technological constraints and costs. In this letter, a new diagnostic technique with amplitude-only far-filed measurements is presented. Firstly, the diagnostic issue is treated as the reconstruction of the aperture differential field in order to handle arbitrary types of arrays. Subsequently, the Born iterative method, together with the total variation compressive sensing method, is employed to solve the resulting nonlinear and ill-posed problem. Numerical results are given to validate the potentiality of our diagnostic approach.
