Low-cost Portable Sensing System for Organic Tissue Detection and Differentiation

In this work we present a portable sensing system for organic tissue detection and differentiation. The presented system operates in the microwave frequency range. Its sensing component was optimized to spatially differentiate two types of tissues with relative dielectric contrast sufficiently greater than one: muscle and fat. The system is made of low-cost microwave components and presents proof of concept and a stepping stone to the design of more complex systems with a higher spatial resolution capable of differentiating several types of tissues.
